spiritual people ----Shivapuri Baba

Shri shivapuri Baaba, also known as Govinda Bharathi, was a great saint and a traveller hermit who taught the world what is 'swadharma' or how to live a sacred or peaceful life. He was born in Kerala in1826, in a Namboothiri family and at the very young age went with his grandfather, a spiritual man, for penance or austere life in the forests of M.P, on the bank of Narmada river. After his grand father's death, he spent many more years in the deep forest till he got enlightenment or self realization. Just like Adi shankara, he went on foot across his motherland and been to all the pilgrim centres and met many great saints like Shree Rama Krishna Paramahamsa and Shri Aravinda Ghosh, a student then.
As per his grand father's wish, Govinda Bharathi started his world pilgrimage and met Agakhan of Afghanistan and earned the certificate of the Soofi brother hood and reached Persia. The Indian Yogi was welcomed by the Sha who helped him to reach Mecca where the higher religious leaders accepted him. Then he left for Jerusalem, Isthanbul, Greece, Rome, Netherland and England and where ever he went, he visited and held talk with the rulers of that country. In England, he spent 4 years as the Queen Victoria requested him to stay back until her death and during that period he could impress upon people like Churchil, Bernard Shaw etc, the greatness of India.
From England, he crossed Atlantic and reached America, met Roosvelt, then to Mexico and crossed the huge mountain Anderson, passed Columbia, Peru and reached South America and then by ship to Pacific Islands, Newsland, Australia and landed in Japan. Later crossing China, Nepal and finally reached India and completed his mission after visiting his own hometown where nobody recognized him. It took him 40 years to travel round the world, about 25,000 miles and that also 80% by foot only.
The rest of his life was spent in a small hut near the foot hills of Shivapuri hill at Kathmaandu, in Nepal..Though he did not want to establish an Ashram and make disciples, a lot of people came to him every day.His philosophy of life attracted many.He aspired people to lead a pure life, do your duty to yourself, the people around you, keep your mind and body clean, say good words, help ohers, ...think of other's good only....do pancha mahayajna.....etc..He said to follow the 3 slokas of the 16th chapter of Gita.....and observe the said 26 qualities.....
At the age of 135 the great Shivapuri Baba breathed his last....Jai gurudev....
